Design Within Reach is having its annual Champagne Chair Contest:

From the website, http://www.dwr.com/champagne/ :
The annual DWR Champagne Chair Contest™ is simple: Create an original miniature chair using only the foil, label, cage and cork from no more than two Champagne bottles. Chairs will be judged by a panel of industry experts and the winners will embark on a nation-wide tour. The winning designers will receive DWR Gift Cards.
All entries must be received, via email, by 5pm (PT) on Monday, January 7, 2008. Cheers and good luck.
Here's the rules:
Entry requirements:
* Use any or all of the materials from no more than two (2) Champagne bottles (no glass). Glue is the only permitted adhesive. You are not permitted to use any additional materials – including tape and/or paint.
* The chair must measure no more than 4"x4"x4" in size.
* The chair must be an original design – miniature replicas will not be considered.
Last year, I think I read that DWR received somewhere around 400 entries, and so I googled this contest to try and find out what types of chairs people had been making in the past. Here's some of the Champagne Chairs that I was able to find:

From Core77.com:

And again from DWR (I'm just copy and pasting the source code here, with some ghetto html editing, so let's hope the formatting works...)

So...do I have any ideas? Yikes...
And how the heck am I going to get champagne? Maybe my boyfriend wants to get some for New Years...
I'm not usually a drinker, but this could be fun
(or a waste of time, but hey, let's see what can happen!)
If I do end up entering this contest, I'll try and post my entry here, too, for others to see.
Ok bye for now.
